After months of hypothesis that Harry & Meghan would be pushed back following the Queen’s death, Netflix has released the first trailer for the docuseries—and it appears the Liz Garbus-led assignment will provide a extra in-depth appear at the couple’s personal existence than ever before.
While the trailer includes no footage beyond one-on-one interviews with the Sussexes, audio is played over a succession of never-before-seen black-and-white photographs that retrace the records of Harry and Meghan’s love story: the pair dancing at the reception of their wedding; Meghan in her much-dissected Stella McCartney dress; the pair together on holiday, jumping for the digicam and pulling stupid faces; a low-key second following a formal event, with Harry planting a kiss on Meghan as she sits on the kitchen counter.

“Why did you favor to make this documentary?” Garbus questions the Duke of Sussex at the starting of the minute-long teaser. “No one sees what’s occurring at the back of closed doors,” Harry responds. “I had to do the whole thing I could to guard my family.” As for Meghan’s take? “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make greater feel to hear our story from us?” she asks. Netflix has yet to verify an actual launch date for the series, however it is expected to be premiering on the streaming massive in the close to future—most probably earlier than the cease of the year.
The Duchess in the past opened up about the project—and what the couple’s focal point will be with Archewell Productions going forward—during an interview with Variety this fall, in which she promoted her Archetypes podcast. “It’s fine to be in a position to have confidence anybody with our story—a seasoned director whose work I’ve lengthy admired—even if it means it may no longer be the way we would have informed it,” she reflected. “But that’s no longer why we’re telling it.

We’re trusting our story to anybody else, and that ability it will go through their lens… So a great deal of how my husband and I see things is via our love story. I suppose that’s what people around the world connected to, especially with our wedding. People love love. I’m no longer excluded in that sentiment.”
While the first season of Archetypes has now ended, Harry is presently gearing up to release his memoir, Spare, due for global ebook on January 10. Per Penguin Random House, the e book “takes readers at once returned to one of the most searing pictures of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, taking walks in the back of their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. For Harry, this is his story at last.” Watch the trailer for Harry & Meghan in full below.
